Cosmetic dentistry abroad

A variety of cosmetic dental treatments are performed in dental clinics abroad. Patients, who have missing teeth, opt in for dental implant treatments, bridges or dentures. Each of these missing teeth procedures has their pros and cons but restorations on dental implants come out as the best solution. Implants are the longest lasting and most durable solution. Properly performed dental implant treatment provides a very strong structure with no moving or wobbling teeth. Additionally implants protect the surrounding teeth area as there is no need to drill neighbouring teeth to have the treatment completed. Implants are the only stable and permanent option for tootles patients. The main drawback is the high cost of the treatment although costs are significantly lower in Eastern European countries. Dental bridges made of porcelain crowns bonded together are also a very popular teeth restoration method. In order to fit a bridge, a dentist needs to trim away the surface neighbouring teeth on which the bridge will be supported. This options is only available to patients that have at least 6 healthy teeth left in each jaw. Dentures, commonly used by NHS in the UK, are also fitted abroad. It needs to be said however that people who make an effort to go abroad to restore their smiles hardly ever go for dentures as it is an uncomfortable solution.

Other cosmetic dental procedures such us teeth whitening, porcelain crowns or veneers, onlays and white fillings are also commonly performed by clinics abroad. Crowns, that are used to restore damaged or broken teeth, are made to exactly match other remaining teeth. Dentists use veneers for patients who want cleaner, whiten and straighter looking teeth. Veneers have gained its popularity in the past few year and this treatment is often used for so called “Hollywood smile makeovers”. Teeth whitening work is popular too as it is fast, cheap and almost non-invasive procedure. Many patients that go abroad to have dental work done, replace their amalgam fillings with aesthetically looking white-composite ones.
