Dental Treatments Abroad

Implants Abroad

There are a few options to replace missing teeth, but the most advisable by dentists, offering long lasting and convenient solution are dental implants. Surgical implant insertions start from about £500 in countries such as Poland. The average price in the UK for the same procedure is £1500. Not surprisingly many patients travel abroad to obtain such treatments to save costs. The treatment time from placement of an implant until the final restoration may take from one day (immediate load implant) to six and even nine months. This depends on patient’s health condition and the type of implant used. Prices for full arch restoration on implants in Eastern Europe (lower or upper jaw) start from £2400 (2 implants + removable denture) or £3900 (4 implants + removable bridge).

Crowns, Bridges and Veneers Abroad

Dental bridges or crowns provide the alternative to implants for missing teeth restorations. Standard porcelain crown (also used in bridges) starts from £185 in Poland, (on average £400 less than in the UK). These procedures are less expensive and quicker to fit than implants – the complete restoration can be finished in as little as 1 week’s time. The end result is usually very good – crowns and bridges make damaged teeth look very healthy (as they were natural). Crowns or veneers can also be used for chipped or other teeth corrections. Composite veneers start from £140 in Poland while fully ceramic ones start from £280 (£350 less than UK's average). Prices for other popular dental treatments are also 60% cheaper than in Western European countries. Prices for white fillings abroad start from £50 and root canal treatments from £85 per root.

Teeth whitening abroad

There are a few teeth whitening methods.
With tray whitening, the doctor takes impression of patient’s teeth and dental technicians prepare special whitening trays in a laboratory. The patient then puts it on your teeth overnight for a week or so. It is a good solution to keep the whiteness of your teeth after lamp whitening, as the trays can be used 2-3 years after the initial lamp session in order to re-whiten the teeth.
The lamp/laser whitening (Beyond in office System) takes about 2 hours. The special laser is put on your teeth to make them whiter, giving great results. Very often however, polishing and scaling are needed beforehand. It starts from £200 in clinics abroad.

How many visits?

Duration of your dental visit depends on the extent of dental work needed. In most cases, one longer stay of around 5-7 days (providing you don't need any serious preparation treatments or extractions) or two short visits are required for completion of prosthetic treatments such us crowns, bridges or veneers. Whitening, root canal work or fillings can be finished on one, 3 day long trip. In most cases two visits (1 short and 1 longer) or three short ones over the period 3 to 6 months are required to complete the restoration on dental implants.
